Armored Space Girl Process01

I love Japanese style armor/robots/etc. I grew up on Robotech/Macross, Bubblegum Crisis, and so many others. If you've seen my Call Me SEVEN work, you'll know my big vanity project is a version I call "Robo-punk".

Sometimes I forget to draw something "just for fun" and not for a client or employer or whatever. So this one is just fun for me and this is the first three stages.

Stage 01: Scanned Sketch from sketchbook. Blue pencil, no erasing, just having fun. Liked it enough to try to make it work as an actual drawing.
Stage 02: Import to Manga Studio 5, draw up and continue adding to the sketch. Fought with the face and hair more than anything. Finally, after fighting it, I stuck with my first "pass". Instincts are important.
Stage 03: Value study, setting up the light and shadows, some of the effects.
Stage 04: UP NEXT--> Laying in the flat colors.
